Job Description

Curtis Contracting, INC (CCI) is a Class "A" contractor, prequalified with VDOT and has been in business since 1985. We are separated into multiple divisions including The Civil Division, Heavy Highway Division, Road/Bridge Maintenance Division and Federal Division. CCI has a large equipment fleet and self performs all aspects of construction management, site work, utilities, demolition, heavy highway and cast-in-place concrete. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the TAMS Crew
    • Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T) control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.
    • Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating large trucks, specialized motor vehicles and trailers
    • Carry out all duties in line with CCI policies and procedures
    • Concrete work (i.e. barrier walls, sound walls, concrete ditch)
  • Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, working with concrete and asphalt
  • Drainage repair (i.e. manholes and inlets) repair washouts, pipe installations
  • Required to be available and accessible for emergency call outs
  • Execute all work requirements using a range of small, medium and large tools and equipment
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 5 years experience in a construction supervisory role
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening
  • Must practice safe work methods to remain accident and injury free
  • Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident
  • Ability to cooperate and communicate written or verbally with co-workers and supervisor
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, divide, calculate proportions, percentages and measurements
  • Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to read, write and interpret documents such safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals to comply with contractual requirements
  • Ability to work flexibly and willingness to work extensively to meet business needs
  • Must have knowledge of operating equipment (excavator, loader etc.)
  • Must have knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete, asphalt repair, pipe installation, construction and maintenance
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities
  • Must have good driving record and background
