**Responsibilities:**
* Process bi-weekly payroll for US-based employees and 1099 contractors across multiple states
* Maintain accurate records of hours, deductions, garnishments, and benefits contributions
* Reconcile payroll registers with the general ledger and prepare journal entries
* Manage federal, state, and local payroll tax filings; year-end W-2 and 1099-NEC reporting
* Track multi-state tax nexus changes triggered by remote-worker movement
* Respond to employee payroll inquiries with discretion and accuracy
* Maintain documentation of payroll controls and support the annual financial audit
**Requirements:**
* 3+ years of US multi-state payroll experience
* Hands-on with at least one major payroll platform (ADP Workforce Now, Workday, Gusto, Rippling, or Paychex Flex)
* Strong working knowledge of FLSA, multi-state SUI/SUTA, and remote-worker tax considerations
* Familiarity with state-specific final-pay rules and pay-frequency requirements
* Excellent attention to detail and discretion with confidential data
* Comfortable working independently on a part-time, remote schedule
* US work authorization required
**Nice to have:**
* FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
* Experience supporting a fully-remote, multi-state US workforce
* Familiarity with equity / stock-based compensation administration (RSUs, ISOs)
* Exposure to international contractor payments (Deel, Remote.com, or similar)
