Data Specialist

Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking full-time Data Specialist to join our team remotely.
The Data Lead directly supervises use of electronic applications for All of Us, (e.g., REDCap, eClinicalWorks, and Cognos) by the Data Specialist, initiates application updates, and ensures adherence to all security protocols. The Data Lead ensures all EHR and operational deliverables are met on a regular basis through collaboration with the Program Manager, EHR Lead, and through oversight of the Data Specialist's various responsibilities.

As part of the federal Precision Medicine Initiative, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is leading a new program, the All of Us Research Program (AoURP), which seeks to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs for current and future generations. To do this, All of Us is asking one million or more people to share their health information and samples of blood and urine to build the largest database of its kind, one that reflects the rich diversity of the United States. Sun River Health has partnered with NIH as a Health Provider Organization (HPO) for All of Us, offering our patients the opportunity to enroll in the program. Sun River Health is seeking a Data Specialist to support the electronic applications, data management, and electronic medical record (EMR) transfer related to participation in All of Us.
The Data Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the Database Management Systems (DBMS) used by All of Us. The Data Specialist ensures data integrity for reporting requirements and works closely with All of Us staff on collecting internal data, developing reports, and supporting the secure sharing of EMR with the AoURP data repository. The Data Specialist contacts with external partners to manage program data, in collaboration with the All of Us leadership abilities team.
The Data Specialist provides exceptional customer service and effectively uses information technology to improve data operations that promote Sun River Health's participation in the AoURP.
Primary Responsibilities include:
»Demonstrating expertise of Database Management Systems (DBMS), including familiarity with any main languages (Python, C++, Java, R, and/or SQL)
»Utilizing coding languages to support data management and researcher efforts, or availability to develop proficiency
»Support staff by training them in various applications and troubleshooting user issues
»Conducting routine quality control/quality assurance audits to enhance data integrity
»Compiling, disseminating, and interpreting data reports with salient data in collaboration with AoURP program leadership abilities.
»Communicating with key organizational staff across multiple departments (Clinical, Informatics, IT, and more), along with AoURP staff and external partners, to discuss requests, current needs, and outstanding issues
»Developing and maintaining thorough documentation for EMR file sharing with the AoURP data repository including file generation, file validation, file submission, and database updates and maintenance.
»Coordinating routine EMR data transmission, as required by the program
»Devising and improving data management workflows under manager of the Program Manager
»Represent Sun River Health in NIH meetings, working groups, and committees
Preferences, expertise and Qualifications required
»Community-oriented and passionate about improving healthcare
»Strong analytic and project management expertise (prioritization, conflict resolution, multitasking, presentation expertise)
»Strong communication and interpersonal expertise, up to and including end users and external partners
» practice in working with an interdisciplinary team with varying degrees of data science proficiency
» practice with health information technology in an FQHC or primary care setting preferred
Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree (Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Technology; other degrees welcome) or equivalent work practice
Minimum Work Related practice: 1 years' practice in business applications, health care informatics, and/or data analysis, or equivalent coursework
Technical: expertise of Microsoft Office Suite required; expertise of Database Management Systems (DBMS) required; expertise of business/health care data platforms preferred
Job location: This is a fully remote position
Preferred Specialized expertise & expertise: Bilingual in both English and Spanish (orally and written)
Hourly Range: $20.00-$22.00/hour
